First of all: You would have been irate if Michigan turned down the payday? So either way you're bent out of shape, huh? There's just no pleasing you, is there? Secondly: It's just one game. It's not the NHL's job to be the savior of downtown Detroit. And the NHL is not depriving anybody - least of all the people of Detroit - the opportunity to attend the game. In fact, there will be room for everybody who would normally go to a game, plus 100,000 more people. Finally, romanticizing Detroit's "local charm" while describing Ann Arbor with words like "muddy parking lot" is hilariously disingenuous.
Sorry you're so bummed. I will be making the 4-hour road trip to attend the game. I'm excited already!

Is there a reason this new athletic field was not a synthetic field? For $2.2 million, a very nice synthetic field that is much less expensive to maintain would of done the job. Tecumseh High School, put in a new football, soccer, lacrosse field that included seating and lights for almost the same price. Did WCC have to purchase the land also? if so then perhaps that was costly.

Wow. Can I just say, wow. I'm not particularly interested in your newspapers "right" to anything. What I am astounded by is that clearly you have bought into the idea that the public "needs" to know everything.

Clealy this woman made a poor choice, leaving her children unattended. Just as clearly, this is not a matter of "public" safety. Only the safety of the children involved. Campus and students were not under any threat. One mistake (the size of which is not under question,) does not mean this woman deserves to have all of her personal business put out for the public to see. Even small town local papers are more tactful than this. For this newspaper to choose this issue to call out campus security on is in extremely poor taste.

In my humble opinion, which I am choosing to share, know that I may be critizied for, this whole article is indicative of what is wrong with our culture. YOU, (or the newspaper in this case) are not entitled to anything you have not earned. FOIA or not, have some dignity and common courtesy for your fellow human. Good grief.

""Ahern allowed art and design students to inhabit the loft first as an art and office Packed tightly by the thousands inside the large Fillmore Theater, Feb 10 marked the 5th annual Dilla Day Detroit tribute concert, an extended musical eulogy to the producer held annually on the week of his birthday.""

Arbor Vitae on to the Fillmore? this is confusing... It makes it seem like the dilla day concert was at arbor vitae. I don't understand the connection.

Respect indeed. I was a student of his not once but twice at Washtenaw. Truely a great man, and great men are those who make other men think. He made you think. How did this make you feel? He would ask. I enjoyed knowing him.

Prez Clinton was faulty, but we did not criticize the whole system of 'American Presidency' and did not stop voting. Just because of the mistake made by some people in ISKCON society, that too decades ago, blaming the whole system is sheer narrow-mindedness. It is important to be a part of something to know the whole. Simply being critical is not an intelligent thing to do. To put it in a nutshell, Hare Krishnas are the happiest people, thanks to Bhagavad Gita As It Is, its openness to all humankind, the wondering chants in the temple and of course the free food served at all the temples worldwide.

I love the nicknames!

Definitely interested in seeing what is going on with this. I'll be sure to attend a game soon.

I remember going to that roller rink every weekend. Glad to see it's being used for something now than collecting dust.
