Continuing the legacy: The Voice resumes publication

We’re back! After a brief pause, we are honored to welcome our new advisor, Ameera Salman, to the team. Salman worked for The Eastern Echo from Fall 2022 to Fall 2025, and was the News Editor in her final semester, before earning their bachelor’s degree in journalism, alongside a minor in urban studies. The Voice team is looking forward to the new experiences and learning opportunities that Salman’s expertise will bring.

In addition, this semester we will be shifting to a monthly print publication schedule, with the first issue hitting newsstands across campus on February 24. Our goal is to serve our readers with timely online updates alongside our usual print edition. More details will be available soon.

All students at Washtenaw Community College are welcome to join the team, whether as contributors or staff. Please attend our meetings, which are held every Monday at 4 p.m. in SC 109 for more information. You can also join the meetings via Zoom by reaching out to thewashtenawvoice@gmail.com.

The Washtenaw Voice team is committed to exercising our rights ensured by the first amendment while providing our campus community with solution-based reporting, backed by facts and humanity.

Have a story idea or want one of our reporters to dive into a topic you are interested in? We want to hear from you. Scan the QR code and fill out our reader suggestion box and let your voice be heard.
