Rachel Barsch and Student Activities are organizing “Welcome Back Day,” an event where students will have the opportunity to meet new people and get involved at WCC.
Welcome Back Day will be held on campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15. Some of WCC’s clubs and departments will have tables set up at this event where students can learn more about getting involved, as well as, receive freebies and food. Ice cream from Washtenaw Dairy will also be available.
A couple of returning participants this year include the Bailey Library and Financial Aid. There will be some newer participants there as well, including the Alpha Scholars. They are looking forward to interacting with students and answering any questions they may have.
“We offer swag, drawings for prizes and other takeaways, and friendly encouragement to come to the Library and Computer Commons for assistance,” said Maureen Perault, a librarian at WCC’s library.
This year’s event will be a little different from what WCC has put together in the past, since many of WCC’s previous vendors have not signed up to participate due to the impacts of the pandemic.
“There will also be an opportunity to get the COVID vaccine on campus,” said Rachel Barsch, Supervisor of Student Activities at WCC.
For the safety of all participants, the majority of this event will be held outside. There will also be sanitation stations, and tables will be spaced out. Participants are encouraged to wear masks, but they are not required outdoors.
