The Voice wins 4 awards from MPA

The Washtenaw Voice won four awards from the Michigan Press Association (MPA) for their work from the 2023-2024 school year.

Of the four awards received, the Voice took home two first places in their division: Caleb Henderson for Best Writer and Jada Hauser for Non-Inside Page Design “Did someone say cookies?”

The Voice was also honored with second and third place awards.

Lily Cole won second place for Best Feature Story, “How jazz shaped Black culture.” Henderson was awarded third place in the Best Column, Review, or Blog, Sports category for “State of Michigan sees historic month.”

MPA is a statewide journalism program that promotes freedom of the press and honors journalism excellence within the state of Michigan. 

The Voice is a part of division three, a subdivision of two others for four-year university newspapers that publish more than weekly (division one) and newspapers that publish weekly (division two). The Voice’s subdivision is for two-year colleges that publish less than weekly.
