Winter 2026 Staff
Alice McGuire – Editor
Major: Digital Media Arts
About yourself: I’ve been at WCC, on and off, since 2016. After finishing my liberal arts transfer program, I transferred to the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, where I graduated with a dual major in English Literature and Drama in 2021. When I’m not reading, writing or studying, I enjoy tea with my cats.
Why are you at The Voice? When I first started at the Voice as a contributor in 2018, I wanted to bring attention to and preserve the individuals and communities who make up our campus. That’s still one of my favorite parts of the job. Since returning to WCC and becoming a part of the Voice’s staff, I’ve grown to appreciate the many ways in which the program enables me to learn professional skills that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
Yana McGuire – Deputy Editor
Major: Journalism
About yourself: I am a second year part-time Journalism student who is minoring in Media Broadcasting. My goal is to graduate from WCC with an Associate in Journalism. Afterward, I plan to transfer to EMU to obtain a bachelor’s in Media Studies and Journalism. I am a lover of peaceful moments, creativity, and the arts. Now that my only child is all grown up, I have more time to enjoy my passions. Whatever it is that I am doing, most likely there is an R&B track playing in the background.
Why are you at The Voice? One of my passions is writing. I joined The Voice team as a contributing writer in 2024. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly pleased with the way The Voice provided a hands-on experience in a newsroom that allowed me to enhance my writing skills and taught me new things that will be helpful in the future. I am eager to return as a deputy editor to continue to learn while working with such an amazing team.

Skye Bawol – Graphic Design Editor

Jack Sink – Business Manager

Sofia Oganezova – Staff Writer
Major: Business Administration Transfer
About yourself: In 2024, I celebrated two graduations – one from my school back home in Moscow, Russia, and another here in Saline, Michigan. Earlier, I completed music school with honors in vocal performance, and music has been my first love ever since. After moving to the United States, I discovered a new passion for writing. Now I’m at WCC, planning to transfer to the University of Michigan in Fall 2026 to study Economics. I love traveling and have visited 18 countries so far, thanks to my mom, whose adventurous spirit inspired me to see the world. In my free time, you’ll probably find me cooking something new, exploring new restaurants with different cuisines, or diving into a playlist where genres collide and cultures blur.
Why are you at The Voice?: I came to The Voice because I love writing and wanted to put that passion into practice. Being part of the newsroom gives me the chance to turn ideas into stories, ask questions, tell the untold, and share stories that connect people – whether they are across campus or across cultures. Every article is an opportunity to learn something new, and every deadline is a reason to collaborate with creative and supportive people. Plus, it’s just fun – and I think that matters as much as anything else.
